Information We Collect

Places collects account information supplied by a sign-in provider, such as a name, email address, and provider account identifier. When location tracking is enabled, Places collects precise location, timestamps, accuracy, altitude, speed, and heading from the device, including while the app is in the background.

Places uses those signals to create inferred places, categories, visits, travel periods, and time-at-place reports. Sleep shown in Places is an estimate derived from continuous overnight presence at Home. Places does not access HealthKit or collect confirmed sleep or health data.

How We Use Information

We use account and location information only to provide the app: authenticate the account, detect common places and visits, calculate time reports, improve location classifications, maintain security, and respond to support requests.

Service Providers And Sharing

Places uses service providers for authentication, cloud hosting, database storage, maps, and nearby-place context. These providers process information only as needed to provide those services. We do not sell personal information, show third-party advertising, or use location data for cross-app tracking.

A user's Places history is private to that signed-in account. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the service.

Retention And Controls

Location history and inferred place data are retained while the account remains active so period reports continue to work. Users can pause collection with the tracking switch, disable location permission in iOS Settings, or sign out of the device.

Users can permanently delete their account from Settings in the iPhone app. Account deletion removes the account, linked sign-in records, mobile access tokens, location points, inferred places, and visit history from Places systems. This action cannot be undone.

Children

Places is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
